The Gisborne District is renowned all over the world as the first place to receive the morning sun.
We invite you to come and experience the beauty of our region and participate in the 'Gwaloop' Cycle Challenge...
At 204km it is currently New Zealand's longest 'One Day' Cycle Challenge riding out from Gisborne City on a semi coastal route
via Nuhaka to Wairoa then looping back via Tiniroto (an inland rural ride) back to Gisborne.

Course Profile
Gisborne, Wairoa, Gisborne, 204km circuit
Distances: We made two checks on the course distance, starting and finishing at the Campion Road / Gladstone Road corner.
a: By car odometer and relating this distance to the RAPID address system the course distance calculates to a little over 204 km
b: By ‘etrex’ GPS measurement on a continuous run the course distance registered was 204 km.
Elevations: These were measured by the ‘etrex’ GPS and are confidently noted in the table to about a 5 metre accuracy in height.
The heights were cross referenced upon the NZMS 260 Topographical Maps - X18, X19, Y18, & Y19.
To be practical the heights of strategic locations have been noted to a ‘rounded’ 10 metres on the profile.
Profile: As much information as you might require is shown on the profile.
We look forward to the event....
Good luck
Keith (Land Surveyor) & Margaret Scholes
